The Church Coffee, also known as “Muffin Ministry” occurs after almost every Mass at St Gabriel’s Church in Winterport. It is a great ministry to bring people together after Mass, for a cup of coffee, tea, or juice and a variety of potluck baked goods including eggs, fruit, etc. It is an opportunity to enjoy fellowship with other parishioners or visitors.
St. Gabriel’s is a very close-knit, community-based church, where people get to know one another a little better at the coffee hour. Parishioners get an opportunity to have refreshment, but more than that, it is a chance to catch up, talk about what is going on with them or their family, and to find out who needs prayer, a card, or a meal. Plain and simple: it is fellowship, food, kindness, and support for one another.
The children love coming in to get some yummy treats and maybe play with other children for a bit. We sing to people on their birthdays (if we know about them) and do an egg hunt for the kids on Easter. Sometimes we do a brunch for a special occasion.
All are welcome and if you would like to help with the Muffin Ministry, here is what we need: Volunteers to help set up the coffee hall before Mass, to provide and serve beverages, and to clean up afterward. Parishioners bring goodies to share.
This Fellowship ministry provides coffee and donut holes in the St. Mary’s parish hall after the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Attendees at Mass are invited to stay and visit. This promotes a deeper level of community in the parish.
Volunteer responsibilities include making coffee, picking up donut holes at Frank’s Bakery on Saturday, set up, and clean up after fellowship.
This group has not convened since March 2020, but plans to resume the fellowship in September 2022 and could use your help! It is fun and rewarding to see everyone mixing after Mass!
